How to embed link in Flash movie

A client is trying to embed a link in a Flash movie, a video commercial. The Flash movie is working okay, but she needs code for link to a website.

She says:

Here’s the code so far:

<embed pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
quality="high" allowscriptaccess="always" align="middle"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" height="600" src="
http://www.hotlinkfiles.com/files/2443870_1k19k/_LittleFriendsBanner_160x600.swf"
width="160"></embed>

I am trying to get it to link to [deleted due to Vaspers not having post 5 or more posts, this is my first post.] .

Do have any suggestions on where and what code to add to what I already
have?

The link will have to be added via the flash authoring tool as far as I know.

That makes sense to me. Thanks. This is out of my field of expertise.

You need to get Adobe Flash CS software and the original fla file that was used to create the SWF.

Then watch this youtube tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuluZiE0I9U

Thanks very much. I’m new here and the response has been spot on and swift. Much appreciated. Will do as you suggest.

var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();

my_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.Click, on_click);

function on_click(e:MouseEvent):void
{
loader.load(new URLRequest(“http://www.yourlink.com/”));
}

That’s the code that needs to be added via the Flash authoring tool, or can it be manually added somewhere in the code I displayed above? Thanks for the reply!

That is code that would go in the flash authoring tool. It is actionscript 3. If however your movie is published in AS2 the code will be different:

myBut.onRelease = function{
 getURL("http://google.com/", _blank);
}

This goes on the first keyframe of the timeline where the button/movieclip symbol with an instance name of myBut exists.

So it assumes that you have created a button/mc symbol with an instance name of myBut.

If you’re confused and need more help, just ask :slight_smile:
