Help! Need a free/cheap WYSIWYG editor and some advice

Hi everyone, I’m completely new at website design and have been kindly pointed to this forum to get some help, so, help!

I want to design a website that will contain text, pictures, links, and some uploaded files (all over a few pages), but at this stage nothing like ecommerce, user registration or other more advanced features.

As I started asking around I heard several strange acronyms and questions about database, dynamic, static, template etc etc

All of this left my head spinning so I was told to start with finding a free or cheap WYSIWYG editor and start poking around, so here I am!

I would appreciate any recommendations you have on editors that are easy to use. If possible, I would like to use something that would enable me to hand over to a professional if the need arises.

I also still haven’t registered the domain or arranged for hosting so any tips there (or if they should be combined) would be great.

WordPress! It’s easy to use, incredibly powerful, and extremely easy to customize. And we can help you when you run into problems!

Most managed hosts will help you get WordPress installed and set up on whatever domain you want to use, too.

Let me know if you have more questions.

I agree entirely, if you’re not going to take the route of learning how to code, getting something like Wordpress (free) and putting it on your website is the simplest and easiest way to have a half decent website without the hassle of using a nasty WYSIWYG editor.

Thanks, I’ll try it out. Was quite close to buying a serif editor but was warned off it so quite pleased to try something free instead.

I’m sure I’ll be back with a ton of questions soon

No buying! There’re all sorts of options, and WordPress definitely sounds like the best option for you. If you are open to it, you can even host your blog/site on their servers for free as a subdomain.

You know where to find us if you need help!
