Help me pick a CMS, please

I’ve been asked to recommend a CMS for this site, which is about to undergo a major redesign.

I’m told that the site currently is powered by Drupal, with which the client has apparently had some unspecified issues, and would like to at least consider some other options before they stick with what they have.

The company operates a number of different sites, some of which use .NET, some of which use something called adxStudio, some of which use Drupal. I’m inclined to recommend an open-source platform (perhaps WordPress? There are those who say it isn’t just for blogging … and it is the CMS with which I am most familiar, so I’d prefer to work with it, if doing so is practical).

Just interested in getting some opinions. Thanks.

Cool. Thanks for the input, guys.

I’m most comfortable with WordPress, so I’m going to give that a try.

I would recommend ExpressionEngine, but that’s just what I use. It’s a beautiful and well-supported system, and you can run multiple sites on one installation.

ExpressionEngine could indeed work, like Ralph said. I’ve used Drupal, that would also work. WordPress could surely work as well.

It’s a lot about personal preference—there’s just so many CMS’s out there to choose from. While the mentioned ones are fairly easy to get along with, there are others just around the corner.

I’m switching to Ruby on Rails for all my sites and apps now and if a CMS is really necessary, the Rails community offers Refinery and [URL=“http://radiantcms.org/”]Radiant among others.

Some other reputable alternatives to EE and Drupal are MODx and SilverStripe, and they are free.
