Google releases Panda 3.8 Update. Any effects?

hey guys!

Google has just released Panda 3.8 update which is just a data refresh and not any algorithm change. However google says that the global search query results would vary by around 1% after this update. I would like to know if anyone has witnessed any after effects of this update?

[FONT=verdana]As I understand it, this is a refresh, not an update. The idea is that Google will run the algorithm on their existing index, in order to catch any sites that haven’t been crawled or re-indexed recently, but which might fall foul of Panda.

I can’t imagine that many people will notice a difference in their rankings directly attributable to this refresh. Remember, there are doznes of factors that affect a site’s ranking, and many of them are constantly changing. This refresh is just one of many such factors.

That said, if anyone here does have evidence of a site being directly affected, it would be interesting to hear about it.

As far as I know the update is Penguin and yes its affect the search result and mostly for English search result. I created 20 sites for optimizing research and websites that I over optimized get penalized or even gone from search, the rest still ranking high because their backlink quality not quantity.

What I’ve done is simply contacting big online magazine or online media where your audience hanging around and ask webmaster if he/she needs help for improving their site or making widget or guest post still great idea but I expect backlink in return and mostly they are happy with the deal so not only I get good quality backlink but also high targeted traffic for me.

So far so good. Don’t think this is going to cause a major problem for most people.

[FONT=verdana]No, it’s Panda, not Penguin. So not specifically related to the “over-optimisation” update.

This happened for one site I was doing SEO for…

My 5 sites dropped by 10 pages, and 4 sites got on first page and are getting 2 folds the traffic. The key is real content which can provide some information to the viewer

Ah my false. The update is Panda

Do you diverse your traffic source (Social media,PPC and others) ?

In what context have you asked for diversification of traffic source? Does it relate to the Panda update 3.8? Could you please elaborate on this?

On Google’s Twitter they said that it shouldn’t have effect much.

“Heads up: we’re pushing a new Panda data refresh that noticeably affects only ~1% of queries worldwide.”

Yes, it won’t have that much of an effect based on the percentage that they mentioned, but if you’re going to think about the total number of websites, that’s still a lot. That’s one of the reasons why some website owners are worrying about their sites’ rankings on the search results even if the number is that small.

As you may know that search engine always being mystery. No one will knows when your site will gone on search engine and if Big G doesn’t like your site then your site will gone within a second so diversification traffic using paid search (social ads, PPC, media buying) is great way to make your business sustainable and also with using paid traffic we can determine ROI which is impossible using only organic traffic or SEO

yes I agree with you Louise. I also haven’t any negative impact on my site. The key is fresh and informative content and also build natural links to your site.

Yup my websites effected by panda update i thought it was a penguin hit since my website rank dropped down. I contacted through google webmasters and Thank god there’s no manual action taken by web spam team … Well my websites are back on the previous position…

My ASP.NET all keywords ranking are suddenly down, so please let me know is there any update from google which impact on my keywords?

Panda 3.8 is mainly focused on data refresh.my sites are not affected on this update because i am working for portal websites so every day new & fresh contents are uploading but around the world 1 percentage of the people was affected on this update.

Thanks to prompt reply but this was old updated from google and I know its impact, So please give me any update if google will do on 23-Jul-2012 because this date my keywords are suddenly goes no rank which was in first page.

A quick search on the internet found this, which shows the latest update as 19th July 2012. Asking a new question in an old thread is never the best way to get an answer; much better to start a new thread. And as this thread seems to have run its course, it’s now closed.
