GIF Images

Is there a way to convert videos with audio over one minute long to a GIF image? Most if not all of the GIF creators online only create GIF images from a couple of seconds of video. Also, is there a way to have GIF images only loop once?

My goal, if possible, is to convert my videos to GIF files for presentations. But, the GIF image would need to include all of the video (at least one minute) with its audio.

Thanks.

Yes.

I don’t think gig supports audio.

I’m not sure if there is ant limit on time/num of flames/filesize.
But the bug question is Why?
Why not use a video file?

I’m considering using Google Slides for presentations. However, the only videos that can be embedded in Google Slides are Youtube videos. So, I would need to be on Wifi. Additionally, the Youtube files would need to be manually started as there isn’t an autostart with Slides. That is why I thought that GIF images of videos, if possible, could be an alternative solution to these limitations.

I’m not familiar with Slides, but if that’s the case, maybe consider using something else which fits your needs better.

That would be the obvious conclusion. I’m just asking if making a GIF image of a 1 minute video is possible.

I don’t see why not. My concern would be file weight.

I just made a one minute animated gif
261px x 99px
colors: black and white only
bit depth: 8 bit
file weight: 19.9 K

That’s not so bad. But I suspect you would want larger dimensions and more colors.
That could add up quickly to the point where an animated gif would weigh more than a video file.

As for audio, I guess you could try to sync a wav or something to the gif.
But again, that could add significant weight.

How did you make a one-minute animated gif? All of the programs I found online only go up to 40 seconds if even that. Animated gifs of Youtube videos with audio can be easily made on Youtube simply by adding GIF in front of Youtube.com in the url. The problem however is that you can only make a 10 second animated gif. Is there an animated gif creator that extends to 1 minute or more? If so, what could I use to have it loop once? Thanks.

I use LICEcap

But even this short 541px x 251px weighs in at a MB
* I had it loop instead of single frame

So my guess is you’re talking > 60MB for a one minute gif.

Thanks. The con listed on that page is that the size of the gif is increased. However, there are many sites, gif optimizers, that could help decrease the weight of the gif. In its description, it sounds like I might be able to control the number of loops. I’m still not completely sure how I would add the audio. What is the max limit of recording time per gif using this program? Is it 1 minute?

TBH I don’t think there is a limit specified anywhere.
But the longest I’ve ever gone is one minute just earlier when I did so only to see how large a small sized simple file would be.

Thanks. Unless I could figure out how to add audio to a gif or even somehow add the audio to the slide where the gif is embedded so that the audio accurately matches the video, I don’t think this is going to work for my needs. I don’t think gifs were meant to replace videos. Although, this would be the perfect solution for Google Slides.

1 minute may be too long for GIF images

Winsontay,

I am not aware that there is any time limit for .gif images to run.

If you know otherwise, please provide a reference where we can read and learn.

There may be a limit on the number of frames in a .gif, but I’ve not heard of it.

For example 16 frames/sec for 60 sec would be 960 frames. That’s a lot of frames and would probably be a large file, but do limits exit? Dunno.
