Domain extension transfer

Hi

I would like to change my domain extension .me to .com but I don’t know how. I also like to transfer all my posts from .me to .com, how can I possibly do that? Do I need to contact my web hosts?

thanks for the help guys. I already bought .com domain and I am now up to set up 301 redirect. Can someone please give a step by step procedure on this? it would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to change your domain name extension - you need to register new domain name only and that’s it.
That is not called “Transfer” at all.

You just need to register NEW domain name and then issue redirect.

Can’t you just point the .com to the directory the .me domain is pointing to now? Or ask your hoster to do that?
That way it should just work, no copying/moving/whatever needed.

and then? how can i transfer my old post to my new .com domain into the same host?

You may use ‘domain redirect’ feature.

It should be as simple as:

  1. Buy the new domain
  2. Park the new domain on the old one
  3. Set up a 301 redirect from the old domain to the new

Then you just need to keep the old domain for long enough for everyone trying to use that to find the new one. A few months should be long enough.
