I work on a pure PHP admin panel published under the MIT license on GitHub. However, I’ve received some requests from companies and I’m not sure how to proceed. I wanted to decline because the project is personal and I don’t think it’s that interesting. I know two of the contacts, but I don’t know the other one… Has anyone else had similar experiences? It’s not about money, but about understanding what to do with an open source project. Usually, after I’ve done them, I abandon them and no one is interested or asks me anything. I’d like to discuss this with someone who has more experience than me in this field.

But as someone who’s been involved in a number of interviews lately, we’ve always reviewed the github repositories they’ve had to get an idea of how they think in code. It’s sometimes been…interesting.
I think their AI’s certainly do keep an eye out for GitHub work, at least tech companies. I just released a system on GitHub and it has had a couple hundred pulls in a few days, but this is my first public release so I don’t know how it stands up to average.
Regardless, you can always include repos that you’re proud of in your resumes and links. In the end, just do your best and have faith in you.
