I have a domain that is working fine when you go to: domain.com but when you add the www. it goes to the plesk default screen (which isn’t present in the httpdocs area because I removed it). It’s been a week and it’s still not coming up.
I’m guessing I need to add something to the DNS records. I added a CNAME and did www.<domain>. and pointed it to <ip> like the rest. That should work right?
It should work, but generally, the domain will have an A record.
Then several CNAMES, for example:
Domain, TTL, Record Type
test.com, 14400, A. <IP>
www., 14400, CNAME <DOMAIN>.
So there is no need to point it to the IP, unless of course it requires it. I have no experience with Plesk unfortunately.
I also assume you’re doing this in Plesk, rather than your domain provider.
