Hey guys,
Does anybody know a good host for a Dedicated SQL Server Database Server? Nothing more. I would like to keep it under $125 a month. If you are using one, would you recommend the one you are using? Thanks for the help.

I believe any web hosting service provider who provides dedicated servers will be find for you.
$125 per month is good price for small unmanaged dedicated server.
You’d be looking for a good dedicated server, from this point you can set up the extra options and what not yourself to run it as a sql server.
Hi,
$125 isn’t going to buy you all that much in terms of disk i/o which is generally where DB servers fall down. Also if you’re looking for MS SQL Server then you’ll need to up your budget as $125 doesn’t leave much money left over for the server with Workgroup Edition.
Thanks,
That is true, I hadn’t thought about the SQL Server Licensing costs. IT does depend on what load / number of users you are going to have - for a lightweight, small volume usage database a cheaper server may be ok.
Probably worth you checking your application compatibility with a microsoft azure SQL cloud instance, there are some differences between it and normal MS SQL but it may not affect you. If so, the web edition (up to 1gb databse) is very cheap, and the business edition (up to 10gb) is still within budget. Can’t vouch for whether the performance is great as have only tested a small app on it, but it has full transparent failover/resilience/backup.
Thanks for the incite. Looks like I have to up my budget and price around longer. Maybe this is why most choose MySQL. Has anyone looked at RackSpace? Or, do you guys have a recommended host? I’m up for all options. I will do some research on MS Cloud to, I just don’t trust the security of the Cloud. Prefer Old-School, I guess.
When I was looking, I found RackSpace to be more costly, but they did offer more for that - however, some of it I already do myself (managing the OS etc) so it wasn’t needed. From expierence, they seem to be as reliable as the rest.
