Day 2: The Great Photography Competition

I hope your first mission was a success.

You have 24 hours from now to plan your second mission.
In 24 hours time, submission opens. In 48 hours time, submission closes and the next mission will be announced.

Your second mission is to take a photo of ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

A bus or taxi OR
A post box

Images must be uploaded to this thread as attachments.

Images should be either JPG or PNG and should measure between 900 - 2000 px length for the longer side of the photograph. DPI doesn’t matter.

The Rules:

ALL WORK MUST BE YOUR OWN!

Photos must be shot between the time a topic is posted and the time of judging. Photos from five years ago are not allowed.

Photos must be submitted before midnight of the day.

Entrants may take part as many times as they like, but an entrant may only win once.

No goofy Photoshop effects or overdone photo-manipulation; Entrants are allowed to correct colour, contrast, and make minor tweaks such as removing litter or distracting objects from a photo, but no surreal colours or crazy filters.

Hi Jcwacky,

Yes, stopped off at the Gyle to get some taxi and bus pics. Not sure where to choose for statues though…

Susan

Yeh, I’m struggling with that, the only one I can think of near me is across in Granton. Might have to get my bike out!

Lothian Buses! I live in Edinburgh too! My postbox shot is just down from a number 8 bus stop!

And submissions for day 2 are closed.

15 mins to go!

Js does that? I’m running without JS and I’m clicking manually.

Maybe it’ll work if you turn it off?

wow all your pics are so good. i’m a total newbie. so i’m hoping to at least walk away with learning something out of all this. so judges, please give my photos lots of critique and helpful advice if possible. thanks. :o)

I think the uploaded version looked different from the shot version, so here it is again

I was on my hands and knees in front of crowds of people today to get my shot…I just pretend I’m in my own little world, put my headphones in and focus! Noone knew me so what did it matter

My submission attached…an old Victorian and modern postbox outside the lovely Lloyds building in London

Very cool pic jcwacky!

I recently finished reading “Photography For The Web” by Paul Duncanson. I thought this competition would be a good excuse to try out my new understanding of composition and panning. So please criticize gently Oh Mysterious One.

Why?

Well, here goes nothing.

A local bus.

I share the sentiment about feeling embarrassed taking photos of buses, taxis and fast food restaurants. : )

Susan

pixelfuze, love the contrasts! Llyods Building is a great backdrop, love that building!

wish the mailboxes were a bit more exciting around here. I ended up taking a photo of ours.

2004 in Arundel, UK.

Actually had quite a few interesting boxes to work with. One gentleman asked why I was taking so many pictures of his mailbox. I explained, he was happy. Finally decided on the lonely one with the cobwebs.

Thank you very much
