Can I do this with buddypress? Creating a "e-mentoring" community

Hello folks,
I would like to create a community site where people can talk to business professionals about job advice, possible careers, etc in a safe and secure environment. Is it possible to customize buddypress to get its basic functionality to look somewhere like this for the enduser (see attachment)? I’m not a programmer (a designer), so I’d rather not have to edit code unless it’s pretty basic. I do have experience working with Wordpress.

Is buddypress the answer for me? Going over the features on the buddypress website, I certainly think so. Anyone have experience using buddypress?

Yeah you can. I think themeforest has alot of examples of themes implementing this type of solution. e.g. WordPress - Instant Q&A - ThemeForest

In the past you may have been limited to buddypress, and it may still be a good option, but more and more specific wordpress custom post types and applications are rapidly developing as of late.
