Best way to measure traffic of third party sites

Howdy.

I’ve decided to include a blog section in my site, One Million Hit Wonder, that reveals the latest viral websites and high-traffic articles on the web.

I want to provide some statistics about these third party websites. For example, I’ve just written this article about a site that covers the world’s craziest toilets, and would like to provide some traffic statistics on how many visitors per month the third party toilet article gets.

What is the best application on the web to view third party website statistics, and any other interesting metrics about these third party websites.

Soo…no one can suggest any online tools that provide web stats for 3rd party websites?

I find it hard to believe there are no tools out there that can tell you, at least approximately, how much traffic someone else’s site gets…

Here’s something from searchenginejournal - but it does have alexa in the article - probably not what your looking for, but give it a read: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/3-ways-to-explore-website-traffic/7199/

Thanks for the article. I will go through about it.

But, How is it possible to measure the third party site traffic?

Cool, I’ll read the article now…I’m still not convinced there aren’t tools out there, besides Alexa, that give us traffic stats for 3rd party sites!
