Best payment/checkout solution

I am currently using paypal as payment solution but the fact that customers goes to the page where they have to choose whether sign up with paypal or not is bothering me and confusing customers.There are other issues as well with the current paypal solution.

I would like something basic but that provides a speedy and secure checkout.

Does anyone have tips or advice?

Paypal Website Payments Pro will allow you to accept credit card payments directly on your site without customers knowing that they are actually checking out with Paypal. For that you’ll need a SSL. You could also add Google Checkout, no SSL needed.

Which one would you reccommend between them two? Is SSL something that I need to obtain or something that some hosts provides and is it worth it? I am a beginner and just looking for easy basic options,

If you want a “seamless” checkout process you will need to use a merchant account through your site and will need an ssl certificate and secure setup to make it all work. That’s the simple tradeoff – more control and branding for a little more cost and technical setup.

Is there a benefit to having a fully hosted checkout yourself? Sure. But it comes at that cost. You should also consider leaving a paypal and google checkout option if you migrate as many users prefer third party checkout systems to direct payments, especially when it’s a small and unknown store.

Man I am having so much troubles with the paypal checkout , I dont know why but customers cant seem to be able to pay and check out on their website. Does it matter where your customers are from in paypal?

Is google checkout better than paypal?

So just realized the problem with PayPal, the problem seems to be that international customers are forced to create a paypal account to complete a payment…so with 100% of my clients being international has made me look for other options anyone had any experiences with 2checkout or Worldpay? Especially in regards in accepting payments from a international customers?

No it’s Website Payment Standard but the issue would remain even if you upgraded to pro.

Any experience with Moneybookers and 2checkout?

Keep in mind that you’ll need the
PayPal recurring module (and pay extra)
to use their system with recurring payments.

That’s interesting, I thought all visitors could simply pay by credit card and that there was no need to sign up.

You are correct … no need to sign up
for a PayPal account. PayPal is very
good at self promotion though so they
“encourage” you to sign up for an
account whenever possible.

This can confuse people and cause lost
sales so I prefer not to use Paypal “simple”
as a primary payment processor but
others love them …it’s all one opinion versus
another.

Google Checkout is good and safe because there is a verification process so it is a less chance of fraud. Some countries can not use Paypal so Google Checkout is a good option for most countries.
