Adding Images to app_offline.htm

It appears that the browser cannot find any project images that I reference in my app_offline.htm file. My guess is that this is the whole point (not giving anyone access to anything in the site) but is there any way around this to display a logo or something similar?

Honestly, I’ve never used the app_offline feature, but my guess would be to make sure your images aren’t being processed by the ASP.NET handler. If they’re not being handled by ASP.NET, then ASP.NET can’t control them. You should then be able to use whatever image you want.

I’m not exactly sure how to make sure images aren’t handled by ASP.net. If you mean use <img> tags instead of <asp:Image/> then I’m already doing that to no avail.

No, not that. I’m talking about the file extensions. If you’re creating a web application project and using the built-in web server, everything is mapped through ASP.NET (*.aspx, *.jpg, *.gif, etc…). When you deploy your application, though, only the typical ASP.NET file extensions are mapped to ASP.NET.

Are you trying to do this on a live site? Do you have an example?

Well currently I’m just developing locally and the page itself works fine, its just that the browser acts like it can’t find the image I’m referencing, even though I don’t get the squiggly red error lines under the image tag in my .htm file (so apparently, the editor agrees that the image is in the correct place). But load it into the browser and you get the classic missing image block.
