403 Forbidden - ONLY from my computer

Hello,

Problem: when I visit particular url the site goes white and the title of the tab says “403 Forbidden” and nothing else happens.

I wanted to ask the forumees here about this weird one instance when I, and I solely, cannot access one particular website, until I ran right into very same problem with yet another site.

Apparently the problem lies with my computer, and my computer only.
The site IS accessible by everyone except of me.

I cleaned the cache, removed all sh!t files, restarted the modem and the computer couple of times already, to no avail.
I can access those sites via my phone, I can access them from anywhere else but! my computer.

Has anyone stumbled upon such a problem?

It seems that your IP would be blocked by them or their system. ( maybe with a good reason )

IP isn’t blocked, I checked that with the hosting provider.

There are a several methods to block users, including: IP, user agent, referrer, to name a few.

My question remains: how to access the site that was blocked from me, and from me only, somehow.

Well you first need to work out why you are blocked.
What is different about your computer that is blocked, compared to one that isn’t, the OS, the browser, the IP?

What about the admin of the website? A webmaster can block IPs (or whatever) to a site, the host does not necessarily know about or control that.

“What about the admin of the website?”
It is me who takes care of the sites, I am the admin. Plural case of the sites, cause there are bunch of add-on domains. Funny thing: I can access all of the add-ons, yet I cannot access the main domain. The hosting provider told me that I am not being blocked by any means and that they can access the site, which I already knew, cause I could access all of them from whatever computer and system (except MY machine) and whenever I wanted to.

Anybody still can access the main site but me.
Here, the url:
main:

addon:

( I know there’s an error, point is I CAN SEE this database error )

Do you have any entries in your PC’s HOSTS file?

Did you try using another browser on your PC?

Dear @greg76, that is information you should have put in your first post as well as things suggested you say you have already ruled out.

The site you refer to have many 404 and 500 errors, the main site and the “addon” you link to is the same IP. Google cache shows some pages looking like templates. WP pages and sub directories I tested are 404/500.

I don’t suggest you are a troll, only your bits of info seems to be ment to keep the thread going rather than solve the problem.

Edit:

You also copied the topic to StackOverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/38698524/403-forbidden-only-from-my-computer

Your comments on the SO answer gives a little more info so I add it here too:

I tried to use different IP, to no avail ( through FF plugin ). Using very same modem ( wireless ) and still on the same IP I can access the site via my mobile. My desktop is blocked, though. – Greg Bialowas 23 hours ago

I triad connecting via all of the browsers I have installed ( 5 ). Virus scan didn’t find anything, and I am using F-Secure – Greg Bialowas 4 hours ago

IP would be blocked

You’ve not read the thread in its entirety then…

Little update: seems not only this ONE webpage is being blocked; I received same error on bunch of other websites. What I’ve found out: I did the testing while restarting the system over and over again and typing in TWO web addresses that normally are blocked.

When the system’s booted and I open Chrome or FF or both, I CAN SEE those pages. Then, when rest of the programs are loaded in in the background - the 403 error jumps in and I no longer can see the sites. I noticed this is related to the Network (I am on Win 7): when the network is still processing its booting (the bottom right ‘screen’ icon has a loading image on it) the sites are available. When the icon becomes solid, the sites get 403 error. Maybe coincidence, not sure yet.

Is there a way to see what program is causing what? I mean, like to see what’s woken up my computer I can type bunch of commands in CMD mode. Is there something like that available that would tell me WHAT app or program is causing 403 forbidden error on my computer?

After you ruled out the host file in your system, I still think it could be an inserted redirect issue. If you have any kind of “safe surf” or Windows firewall active you can check their logs for blockings. (MS telemetry?)

Its easy to monitor/control the requests that goes out from your FF browser. Add some Firefox extension and check. E.g.:
https://www.requestpolicy.com/
http://livehttpheaders.mozdev.org/

I guess you can set Windows firewall to verbose logging to reveal if an app/service is causing the error.

Anyway, I hope you post your progress with the problem, also what you learn from your SO thread.

I’m blocked from your website.

Reason: Malware.

I’m checking on a server hosted by a university. Helpful?
