Infrastructure Architect - Utilities

Our client, an established utilities company in the gas sector, are seeking an Infrastructure Architect to support the future design, evolution, and implementation of IT and OT technical architectures. This role focuses on managing end-user devices for field and office-based workers and ensuring secure and reliable connectivity to cloud-hosted services. Additionally, the architect will oversee operational technologies that ensure the safe and reliable transmission of gas to 5.9 million customers. Role Overview: Reporting to the Lead Enterprise Technical Architect within the CTO function, the Infrastructure Architect will develop technical roadmaps and work with product groups to guide and assure the implementation of solutions. Key Responsibilities: Provide and assure technical roadmaps, designs, and support for IT and OT infrastructure assets. Contribute to standards development, reference architectures, and technical strategies. Guide product/project managers and solution designers to ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and manage technical dependencies. Maintain architecture artefacts and an architecture repository. Investigate patterns and trends to resolve problems and consult specialists as needed. Support strategic planning and risk management. Required Skills: Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Facilitate discussions within multidisciplinary teams. Implement appropriate technical governance. Ensure compliance of technical solutions. Identify opportunities for innovation with new technologies. Explain the strategic context of work. Design technical architecture aligning with enterprise standards. Experience: Designing and implementing end-to-end infrastructure solutions in an enterprise context. Managing end-user technologies (Microsoft Windows, Android/iOS, Microsoft 365). Implementing connectivity solutions (SDWAN, NextGen Firewalls, IPVPN, cloud identity management). Working with operational technologies (IoT sensors, Edge computing, SCADA systems). Knowledge of cloud hosting technologies (AWS) and SaaS integration. Understanding of cyber security and operational monitoring technologies. Familiarity with architectural frameworks (TOGAF) and tools (Orbus). Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.
