Contract Type: 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract Location: Remote Are you a skilled Technical Designer with a passion for bridging the gap between game design and development? We offer a unique opportunity to work on one of the biggest IPs in gaming as a Technical Designer on a 3-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you’ll ensure the seamless integration of game mechanics and technology, contributing to an engaging player experience. Your Role: As a Technical Designer, you will collaborate closely with designers, programmers, and artists to implement and optimise gameplay systems, tools, and features. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining gameplay systems, creating prototypes, and resolving technical issues to ensure a polished final product. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain gameplay systems using visual and text-based scripting languages (Blueprint, Lua, Python, or similar). Create and enhance design tools to streamline workflows and improve efficiency. Build and iterate on prototypes for new gameplay elements. Identify and resolve technical challenges, focusing on memory management, frame rate enhancement, and optimising performance using Unreal Engine 5’s profiling tools. Collaborate with team members to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively. Your Skills and Experience: Expertise in both visual and text-based scripting languages (Blueprint, Lua, Python). Strong understanding of Unreal Engine workflows, including UE5’s Control Rig, Sequencer, animation systems, Niagara VFX, Nanite, Lumen, materials, and shaders. Experience in optimising game performance and troubleshooting bottlenecks using UE5's profiling tools. Solid grasp of game and level design principles. Previous experience working on games or game-adjacent projects. Motivation to tackle creative and technical challenges and the ability to analyse and deconstruct the work of others. Nice to Haves: Proficiency in C++ with a good understanding of network replication and its limitations. Experience in game jams. Why Apply?
