Infrastructure Engineer

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be tasked with the design, development, and maintenance of my clients global IT infrastructure. This role requires close collaboration with the IT team and various external vendors, ensuring robust technical support for internal users, managing and enhancing technology platforms, and driving continuous improvements in IT capabilities and processes. The role: Lead the advancement of core infrastructure components including cloud services, servers, networks, and security systems. Offer guidance and technical input on infrastructure-related considerations for new projects, occasionally acting as the technical lead. Provide ongoing support post-implementation for newly integrated technologies, overseeing testing, planning, execution, and optimization. Address cyber security and information assurance, assisting with inquiries and investigations, and advising on secure configuration of IT systems. Work with end-users to identify business requirements and propose optimal solutions. Record and manage incident reports for system faults, coordinating with third-party providers as necessary. Oversee the management and application of security updates and patches to infrastructure systems. Ensure optimal system configuration, performance, and uptime. Conduct routine operations, maintenance, support, and troubleshooting, prioritizing requests effectively. Transfer knowledge to the internal IT support team, enabling them to handle first-line infrastructure support requests. Contribute to the ongoing evolution and improvement of IT function. Candidate experience: Proven experience in technical infrastructure maintenance and delivery. Strong project delivery skills, including change management, risk management, and progress reporting. Proficiency with Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP. Experience with enterprise firewalls, switches, and Wi-Fi systems. Knowledge of virtualization technologies. Proficiency with Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure (InTune, Autopilot, Azure, Entra, 365 Exchange). Familiarity with Microsoft Defender and Sentinel for security control and configuration. Experience with WSUS for patch management. Competence in backup technologies. At least five years of experience in a technical IT role. High proficiency in network and infrastructure technologies. Solid understanding of IT Department functions and IT frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
