Our client is a leading, innovative data centre services provider, who offer colocation and cloud services to diverse businesses and hyperscalers globally. Sustainability is at the heart of their business, with the majority of their operations powered by renewable energy. They are growing rapidly (both people and facilities) and are now looking to hire an experienced Head of Data Centre Design to join their team in London. Early in their expansion, it is an exciting time to be joining, with plenty of greenfield design opportunity and career growth for the successful candidate. Our client is looking for someone that will oversee (as well as being very hands on) design from all aspects, but they are particularly keen to see those from a mechanical background. Liquid cooling experience is also highly desirable. Key Responsibilities: Design Coordination: Oversee the creation of design documentation, including drawings, specs and reports. Ensure designs align with internal requirements as well as industry standards and reg compliance. Design Management: Create, embed and roll out a standardised design process, taking into consideration site-specific design inputs, constraints, assumptions and requirements. Work closely with the PMO to provide insight into potential cost implications arising from project and design based development. Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality controls for all design outputs. Conduct regular audits and ensure compliance to DC design best practice and standards. Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to design team. Conduct feasibility studies and tech assessments for new projects. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain design documentation. Provide regular reports on design progress, risks and issues. To be successful in this role you will need: Minimum 5-10 years experience in data centre design management. Deep and broad knowledge of data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling and security systems. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong and demonstrable leadership experience. Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering or related field.
