Data Engineer

Location: Hybrid, Toronto Contract duration: 6 months .Desired Skills and Experience o Mandatory: Advanced SQL querying for data mining, extraction and preparation. o University Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Information Systems is preferred. o Minimum 5 years of experience in utilizing advanced data extraction and manipulation tools (MS SQL, Teradata, etc.). o Minimum 5 years of experience in Data mining working with large relational databases. o Experience with Cloud technologies (GCP, Azure) is an asset. o Superb analytical and conceptual thinking skills; to not only manipulate but also derive meaningful interpretations from data. o Demonstrated knowledge of the data management lifecycle, including experience with data quality and metadata management. Day-to-Day o Responsible for the extraction and analysis of complex information from a variety of databases. o Provide support to Data Governance initiatives such as data quality, data lineage and metadata management. o Transform extracted data from large and disconnected datasets into insights suitable for presentation to various audiences. o Develop capabilities to identify areas of opportunity and improve business processes, data architecture and reporting efficiency. o Work collaboratively with business and analytics groups, on cross functional projects and data initiatives to solve business problems. o Extract, review and prepare data for analysis & reporting using SQL and/or Python. o Creation of UML diagrams including but not limited to sequence and data flow diagrams.
