C++ Tech Lead

I'm working with one of the fastest growing, most successful, global, multi-strat hedge funds who are looking for a senior C++ engineer with team and technical leadership experience to join one of their high profile software teams. The team is responsible for getting all of the orders and trading data out of the platform and into the market, and they are looking for a Technical Lead to join the team, and provide strategic, technical guidance from the London office. There are important greenfield projects in the pipeline that require design, architecture and leadership. Over time you would also be taking responsibility people management; guiding, leading and supporting the team. And what are they looking for? Firstly, and most importantly, demonstrable experience building mission critical, real-time systems in C++ on Linux. Proven experience working on greenfield projects, and taking ideas and requirements through to implementation. Great communication skills, comfortable dealing with stakeholders from across the business, and the world. They are targeting people with up to 10 years experience, so there is room to grow and develop into the role. Experience with financial systems is a plus, but not essential. The team use a mix of C++ and Python, depending on how latency/performance focused the system is. They are looking for proficiency in C++ and understanding of writing efficient code, but experience with Python would be a big plus. The interesting challenge for this team is that they build technology to support all the different desks and trading styles (from high frequency options to medium frequency commodities). One of the big projects they need to deliver involves building new systems for non-fixed, non-centralised markets, which is a really new and exciting area. It is pretty rare that this sort of leadership role comes up with one of our clients; it is a really unique opportunity to join a hugely successful, growing hedge fund in a position where you can really shape the future of their technology and systems.
