Which is the best PC backup software?

Hi
Can anyone please advice me on which PC
backup software to use?
I am using Windows Vista OS.
Thanks

There are many options, and the best one will depend on your specific needs. Here are some questions I’d ask:

Are you looking to back up just your critical files, or do you want to have a full, bootable backup that you can switch to in the event of hard disk failure?

Do you want to have a history of changes (e.g. so you can retrieve a file that you accidentally deleted a week ago), or is a single snapshot of your system state the last time you did a backup enough?

Do you plan to store your backups on an external hard disk, on optical media (e.g. DVD-RWs), or would you prefer an online backup service that ensures the security of your data in the event of fire or theft?

I use Corbain backup, it’s free, easy and does the job…

For personal use I would highly recommend http://www.dropbox.com. Not only does it back up your data, but it can also sync that same data between multiple computers.

For other backups I highly recommend http://www.jungledisk.com. It uses Amazon’s S3 engine for secure backups of anything you need. You pay by the GB ($0.10/GB/Month) and Transfer ($0.15/GB/Month) plus a small subscription fee for the software itself (We’re paying $2/month).

Both options give you access to files from any web browser as well as the piece of mind of offsite backups should something happen to your house/office/wherever you have your computers.

There is backing software in Windows7, although I have not yet used it, I plan too.

I recommend Carbonite and [URL=“http://www.getdropbox.com”]Dropbox.

Norton Ghost is a great one. Give it a try.

Few days ago i was also backing up all of my data to my external hard drive at the end of every day,so I started using the Acronis True Image Home software to do so. I made the first backup yesterday, which understandably took a long time. But now I’m running the first daily backup, as a test, and it says it’ll take 4 hours to finish!.So due to all these difficulties i quit Acronis & now i am using Magic Backup online service & really it’s great.Magic Backup is so easy to use, and so reliable. Unlike other backup products that perform “scheduled” backups during the middle of the night, Magic Backup is always on the lookout for new or changed files that need to be backed up.

I use “NTI Shadow” which automatically keeps multiple backup copies of all my data files.

Other good software aren’t for free allthought i researched on google this days and camed across this software that gives you fre software and online storage for backup up to 3GB , i think this will fit just right for you. The software name is : Dmailer http://www.dmailer.com/dmailer-backup.html

What i have been using for several months now was [URL=“http://bstdownload.com/reviews/paragon-backup-recovery-free-edition-10/”]Paragon Backup & Recovery Free Edition 10.1.

I just backed up the entire system partition and had it saved on another hard disk. Now whenever i want to restore my Windows with all the drivers and regular programs installled i just run a rescue CD i created with the same program and restore my system to it former glory

The best part about this version of the application is that it is free and works well. You can choose which folders to be included in the backup as well as backup entire partitions.

Hi,
I just wanna to help you! if your using Win Vista make sure your shadow copies are turned on so you can recove previos versions and deleted files even if the recycle bin is gone,

My favorite backup software is Acronis true image.

Gud luck.

Paragon Backup & Recovery Free Edition what i recommend to you. It is free, full featured , it saves the backup files to flash drives, CDs or DVDs, supports Windows and Linux partitions.

I like dropbox & you can do it with Norton utilities also

I use a 1TB LaCie d2 Quadra Hard Disk and as a secondary 500GB LaCie Rikiki.

Dependable, handy. That way I have control over the data. For me it is convenient because I can also manually delete and shift things around.

I am not use any backup S/w. I backup all my data in CD.

I’m using Vista too. Norton Online Backup satisfies me. I like that it encrypts your data locally, using SSL2 to encrypt during transfer and it can even scatter your data among several servers.

Try to use this:

Quite easy to use and not expensive.

P.S. The correct answer for “What’s date of your last backup?” is “Yesterday”

I think you data is more important than few dollars, once I lost most of my files/pics since then I learned my lesson and the best one I used is ZenOK Online Backup , easy-to-use,compatible to computer’s operating system and cheap price.

Nova backup is great and DT utilities is also good try to search them it will be of great use for you!!!
