Hi - I have a form that captures several elements including a date using the HTML 5 input type=date. I need to pass these captured values to another page to format a response to the user. I am able to retrieve every value except the date using $_POST. Is there something I need to do to convert the raw value to something that can be displayed to the user? Nothing seems to be in the field when it gets to the scondary page.

This is where addons such as Modernizr can become very useful, in providing support for such modern features that web browsers such as Internet Explorer are missing.
The job of Modernizr is to determine whether the browser supports certain features, not to “enable” such missing features when the web browser doesn’t have that native functionality.
Others though have built on top of the information that Modernizr provides, such as HTML5Forms which provides the functionality to web browsers that don’t natively support them.
So you mean to say that I use Modernizr to get all the features of HTML5Forms even if they are not supported by the browser ? Or it just tells me whether a feature is support or not ?
I mean that Modernizr determines whether the browser supports certain features, and that others such as HTML5Forms use that detected info provide the web browser with the missing functionality.
