We have a website made for a company called distinctiveflooring.co.uk. It’s been online now for a couple of months, but we’re still not indexed in google. We’re puzzled as to why. I just wondered whether anybody here might be able to give some friendly advice?
Sorry, my tired old eyes didn’t see the hypen. Odd that Google should bring up that site for yours. Did you submit your site and sitemap.xml file to Google?
Yeah, we submitted the site some time ago. I only submitted the sitemap.xml file tonight though. I’ve also added a few links from places like yelp.co.uk tonight, although that link isn’t live just yet.
We didn’t place a great emphasis on creating many inbound links, so I’m thinking that might have something to do with it. It’s a bit frustrating really, but hopefully all of these things will pay off pretty soon and we’ll be indexed.
It’s been my experience that submitting the sitemap.xml file has almost instant results. By tomorrow you should see results. Backlinks require them to crawl the page with your link and then follow it, and if it’s “nofollow” they won’t. But the sitemap.xml file should do the trick, just be patient for a few hours.
Ok thanks. I’ve also added the business onto google maps just now. If you search for ‘distinctive flooring bradford’ on google, it comes up straight away already, or at least it is doing for me at the moment.
Hopefully the sitemap will mean that the site will be properly indexed soon then. I’ve never had to explicitly create a sitemap before as all previous sites I’ve worked on have just appeared in google within a short space of time. Thanks for your advice, and hopefully we’ll see some results soon!
