Selling the webapp copyright

So I got this email from someone praising my site and then finishing it off with “Would you be open to selling the webapp copyright to me?”

Anyone know what that means exactly? Does he want to buy the the source code? The domain? Or the whole site (domain, source code, html code, database, documentation etc). Or should I assume this is a scam? I’d ask him, but I’m afraid that if I reply he’ll just say “I got this sucker now!”

It would mean he would own everything and all rights to it. You would have no claim over it whatsoever.

If in the future you decide to reuse elements of the site, technically, he could sue you for it since you wouldn’t hold the copyright for any of it.

Good to know, thank you.
I’m not really interested in selling since working on the site is my hobby. But I guess it doesn’t hurt to ask how much he’s willing to offer.

Is the site for a WP plugin? I know that some companies have been going around buying up rights to WP plugins in the last year or two, I know one guy who sold his for a little over 24k

No, its not a WP Plugin. 24K for a plugin? Wow! How do you even generate money from a plugin?

Ads or start charging for it.

Ads I would assume in this case, the plugin is still available for free to the WP community and this company rolls all the plugins they buy into one central site to access them.

He actually had two unsolicited offers, the 24k one was the better of the two.
