a funny thing happened to me the other day in parked… seems that someone typo’d my domain in a press release.
The domain went from $20 a day to $1500 a day… Thats just paid for my new car
Gotta love domain parking.

IMO the only people that make good money with domain parking have excellent domain names that already get lots of type-ins.
CSSeven, a domain name only has to make a few cents a day in order to be profitable. Its all about the numbers… if you have 100 domains making a profit of $100 a year then what would happen if you have 100,000?
In case each domain can make few pennies it will really help to recover the renewal fee. But this not happening with everyone, most of the domains are not even earning single penny.
I even heard same story from so many domainers.
In my case, I having nearly 1000 domains, out of that I’m making nearly $100.00 monthly from few domains (10-30 domains), remaining domains I keep moving from one parking company to other to get the best.
oo really sedo is that bad i was just starting selling my domain there but it sounds i should not.
I wouldnt like to say SEDO were bad, just bad at what they do. Basically they are unlicensed brokers with a vested interest.
SEDO is mostly now used by domain investors and I would say that only around 2% of the sales go to end users.
Basically 90%+ of the sales go to investors and domainers, and it is for that reason you will only be able to sell for the most part, your domains at wholesale prices.
If your domains are descriptive and generic you would be better of finding the buyers yourself.
That being said if you have hand regged all your domains, then it is possible that you can get a good return even selling at wholesale prices.
It all comes down to personal preference. But SEDO as a parking company, really is not the best option. For sales… well the jury is still out on that as I have sold more by direct contact that through SEDO.
It’s a waste of time for most domains, unless you have a domainname with lots of type in traffic it wont be more than pennies.
The problem with parking is that it lacks content, one of the important things you need to get traffic. There is software on the market that automatically creates content pages, like Whypark but I really don’t know if they’re any good.
I have about 60 DNs parked at Sedo. Noticed parking revenues have dried up vs a year ago.
Have sold 3-4 DNs thru them. Service is OK.
I have a quick question? I have my domains registered with Godaddy. Out of curiosity I typed in the address of my domain to see what came up and what I got was a parked site. I didn’t do this, does Godaddy park all the sites that are registered with them and make money from that?? Just curious!
Thanks
Yes, the parked page at godaddy makes money for them, not you. That’s my understanding from awhile back.
Sounds like we should only use sedo if we have a domain name thats worth a load of cash. I’ve not seen sedo but I’ll have a look right now.
Parking works for the right domain.
A common enough mistake is that people think any domain will earn cash once parked.
The domain has to be good enough so that people will type it in to their browser - not a search engine. That’s hard enough to do, even years ago. So the keyword and extension combo has to be strong enough to garner type-in traffic.
Some posters mention their names earn about $30 a month or so.
Lets focus on that.
Say it earns $300 a year. How much is that asset worth??
Let me put it like this.
If you had stock in a public company - how many thousands of dollars would that stock be worth if you had a $300 cash dividend? Or how much capital in the bank would you need to earn $300 interest?
Yes i have made some $$ with domain parking. But better not to depend on domain parking for all your domains. You had better option: Build content on some of your domains and do parking for remaining. Look which gives better $$ over a period of time. And make your decision accordingly
