Problems changing file permissions

Is it going to be an issue that I do not own the server? I am uploading to a server in which I have rented webspace from

You should be able to alter permission in your FTP, in Filezilla (if you use that) you can just right click a file and choose “File Permissions…” from the menu.
Or if you have a “cPanel” you can edit permissions in the File Manager.

Ideally you should be developing in a local environment, only uploading to the live server once you have things working there.

After trying to change file permission I did get this error:

Response: 500 ‘SITE CHMOD 777 loginmain.php’: command not understood

I am going to have to contact the host aren’t I because I don’t see a way around this and I do not have a “cPanel”

What exactly did you do to try and change the permissions?

I right clicked the file and went to file permissions in FileZilla, attempting to change basically any single one of the permissions returned the error.

That’s odd, seems like this could be a server config problem.
Maybe I can split this topic into a new one in that forum.

Sure you can, and I know and there is almost no doubt it is a server issue
