I’m thinking about making a Learnable course at some point. I wondered if anybody who has already done one would consider sharing what kind of success they’ve had with it. Have you gotten quite a few sales/just a couple/none at all?
Hi Jason,
My name is Russ and I have done three courses through Learnable (CSS Live, Practical CSS, Styling forms with CSS).
I have found that all of the courses have been very successfully for a number of reasons. I have received good payments from two of the courses (the third has only just gone live it’s a little so hard to tell yet).
I have also found it very rewarding to be able to interact with passionate attendees who want additional information, want to add comments, or even let me know when they uncover mistakes or issues in the course material.
I’d highly recommend creating a course and getting up on the site. I am going to be adding other courses in the near future.
Good luck!
Russ
And I learned from Russ and “attended” two of his courses
Hi Russ, thanks for coming in on this topic.
I took your first course and really enjoyed it - I’m also probably going to sign up for the second and maybe the third as well.
The only thing is, your first two courses were promoted pretty heavily by Sitepoint - that’s a lot of publicity. What I’m trying to find out is, if an ordinary Joe does a course and puts it out there, is there a realistic probability of selling enough seats to compensate for the time and toil of putting the whole thing together?
Learnable has its own area for teachers. If you’re thinking about creating a course and using their services, it is possible that teachers will hang out around there. The forums are not related to SP HQ (except that they support them and that our Administrator works for SP but that’s about it).
I don’t feel that anybody here can really answer your question.
They have a forum over there? Cool - I didn’t know that. You’re right, that would be a much more logical place to start.
