PageSpeed: API download to MySQL or directly from API

Hello,

Will I improve my Page Speed if I download the data to a MySQL database every minute (from the API)? And drawing data to the website without direct access from the website to the API?

Or is it better practice to use Live API access? (directly from API to website)

For example, if you have 500 people an hour looking at the same weather from a weather API feed each time the website connects to the API. If I download the data from the API to a MySQL database and draw data from the MySQL database this would surely make my Page Speed decrease because I am doing the download from the API separate from the website?

Thanks.

Why not set up some a/b tests and see which one gives you the results you want.
