I am starting the journey of creating a website that will allow users to input their products.

Could someone tell me what the programing is called for websites that allows customers to load their merchandise?

What is the best route to go to get this type of site designed?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would suggest you to go for Google and search your content there. Something like auction scripts, scripting software etc. Definitely ,you will get your answer. Apart from these you may consult with any expert.

Not quite sure what your question is, can you clarify it a little bit please?

A website that allows people to input their products can be handled quite a few ways. Anything from a WordPress type blog that allows people to add product pictures and descriptions through the comment process to a PHP script specifically designed to allow users to create a personal account and then list products underneath their account, a good example of this would be an auction script like PHPAuction, or even a Joomla or Drupal CMS. So depending on what you are actually intending, as you can see there are many ways to go about it.

That’s exactly what I’m referring to. For lack of a better example, the ebay format is the direction I need to go. So, PHPAuction, Joomla or Drupal CMS is where I need to be researching?

I am intending to have a site for a specific niche industry that allows the customer to list their product for sale.

In this industry their would be thousands of different type of products that could be listed. So there would have to be many catergories for the client to choose.

My best advice would be to go to google or your favorite search engine and do a search for “Auction Script Software” “PHP Auction scripts” “free auction scripts” Or something along those lines and start going through them one by one and seeing which one you like the best, there are literally hundreds out there to choose from ranging from open source to hundreds or thousands of dollars.
