Contacting Google is an effecting way of getting rid of those copy sites.
I’m agree with all the above mentioned. Just to add up, you can also contact directly the website administrator of the said duplicate site. On that way they can actually help you on how to stop or unpublished or remove the duplicate site. Just have to make sure that you are the original one. The website admin will going to ask you with the details of your site and make sure that you can provide clear info with regards to your site.

Wait…did you just say that you see the offending site from Google? I thought Google penalize those duplicate content? It should not be even indexed right? Or at least the ranking is so low you will have a hard time seeing it.

All joking aside, i think contacting them may be enough. If that doesn’t work contact the host, then lastly a lawyer. The only thing about the lawyer is that now you are talking about some real money. If your site only brings in a thousand a year, and you hire a lawyer your profits for the year are probably shot. 
i think that google had already indexed that content and it was first generated on your site,so i guess you don`t have to worry.

guy, i understand your feeling, but i advise that SEO is slow precess of effect, if you want to get original content, you could read related knowleadge and try to wirte related articles regularly.
So what’s the answer on duplicate content? If its a duplicate content then how come he still saw it in SERP? If that’s the case then it’s either Google don’t penalize the offender or OP’s article isn’t the original content.
