I have a client with a .com and .co.uk domain, both pointing to the same website. Both domains only contain the name of her company which doesn’t have any of her keywords
She is considering purchasing another domain containing one of her keywords.
If she were to have this pointing to the same site as well would Google be unhappy?
Another option would be to have a part of the site pointing to the new domain - in effect splitting the website.
Are either of these options viable, unwise or unworkable from an SEO perspective?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
If I understand what you are saying then Google doesn’t penalise you providing you have redirects set up. That solves the problem. thank you.
If you point multiple domains to the same page then you should have all but one of them redirect to the one so that any links to any of them count as back links to the main domain.
The search engines will then ignore the extra domains instead of considering them to be duplicates (and hence ignoring all but one anyway - including any links to those domains).
