FYI, no IP address or even fingerprinting is needed to identify you, just collected data. The more data, the more accurate it is.

We all know that privacy is a trade off, but the statement you objected to was about Linux itself:
I agree to that. In some dists you can opt in to share specific data, but that’s not relevant to what you say.
(I guess you’re confusing things with W10 that is collecting anything it can about everything you do, and you can’t know if it respects your choices where it offers to opt out sharing some of it.)
