http://www.tannercreative.com/commercial1.php - I think it came out pretty good, and was a bargain for the $25k we paid!
If people from your company were or even felt slightly harassed, I do apologise. I can’t tell you the reason without looking at the details, feel free to pm me with their names and the info and I will be happy to look into it.
General Chat is a bit more relaxed than the rest of the forums because, well, it is General Chat and the goal here is to relax a bit. We still try to keep the forum spam free.
Unfortunately, the Hosting Forum is often heavely spammed and this means that the team works like mad there.
Now, if you see that the rules are being broken but we didn’t notice, then please report and we will definately look into it (use the flag that you will see underneath the name of the poster, that will send a message to all the team and the first member available will sort it out).
Thanks in advance for helping us to keep the forum clean
Of course, if you need my assistance, you simply need to pm me
Haha, very funny, just gave me a great idea for a promo spot!
Thanks mate!
Thanks a lot for bringing it to our attention For once, I can say that it was unnecessary. We did talk a bit about this thread and decided to let it go.
The rules are not only enforced to new members, but to everyone, including staff members. Yes, I could get banned for being naughty … of course, my Team Leader (my boss) would first called me and tell me “what do you think you’re doing?”. But that’s the only advantage I have as a staff member.
The reason that I left the link (no offense intended but I want to be honest) is to show people what not to do
You may not:
* Post a question for the express purpose of concocting a scenario that invites yourself (or a friend or colleague) to post a link to your own site
As I said, pretty clearly self promotion… but then again, maybe they only enforce to new members.?
Posting a (joke) $25K commercial, that was fake, which you admitted, falls right into that one.
This thread is in general Chat where more leniency is given to amusing and/or interesting things. If I decide that it has merit and is not a direct sell - this was a JOKE, then it can stay.
Gee, thanks Rudy.
I would have thought that my post being #2 may well have suggested that we already knew about it and decided it could stay?!
No worries
Indeed I would! :whip:
Ok, I don’t have a problem with that. If there is an issue with what I did, then I apologize to the powers that be here at sitepoint.
VicToMeyeZr, that was awesome, it appears you are correct
i’ve flagged this thread, let’s see what the moderators say about it…
The reason why I am making such a big deal about this, is because the forum staff here have done nothing but HARASS anyone related to my company, as well as my customers.
A customer of ours put in a review about us(we didn’t even ask any of them to), and was threaten to be BANNED if he said ANYTHING about my hosting company. This was a CUSTOMER of mine!.. That is LEGAL by the rules.
My partner made a post and even mention our company name, and was instantly slapped, and ALL posts removed, but yet continually I am finding rules violation, but yet the staff do NOTHING.
So what is it. Do we have to PAY sitepoint to allow our customers to review our service?
Do we have to be a big name first? What is it? Why is there such a BIASED?
That’s a relieve! I was a bit wworried about the 25k
I guess my main issue (besides the horrible production values and script) is the statement that a website is a website.
Personally I’m looking forward to hiring the OP to design my next 300 page website with integrated forum, wiki, and death ray for the low low price that he quoted.
Cool webcreationuk - glad to hear it! If it is allowable, I’d love to see it when you are done.
Thanks sitepoint for not taking a switch to my backside
Wow, between this posting and seeing someone selling a human skull for sale on Craig’s List today, perhaps it is time for me to take the day off!
WOW - I didn’t think I’d get this kind of response. What most of your suspected is right: I certainly did not pay $25,000 for it - I did it as a little joke commercial. It took an hour, and we all got a laugh out of it here in the office. I thought you all would too.
OIC
Dibs on the liver!
I posted that on facebook just for folks to get a kick out of it with friends and figured i’d post it here. Little did I know that my little joke would cause me to get ripped apart on here - ha!
25K? The OP said 25k twice!
That commercial isn’t worth $25. OP are you pulling our leg?
So very true. The ad does not speak to me. If it is meant to attract customers, then I’d have to say that it accomplished the opposite for me.
But I’m not certain whether you meant this to be a joke or not.
the problem here is that this type of thing could go both ways.
1/ People laugh and say its funny, the thread gets 100+ replies and spidered on Google and TC gets more business.
2/ People go “WTF?”, laugh and leave.
You don’t need a “connection” at the BBB, all you need is money. The BBB is a fraud. You pay them for that rank, agree to “respond” to customer complaints. Thats it. Anyone can get an A+ rating, and if no one reports that business to the BBB, then they can keep that rating no matter what.
Just look at the BBB page on how to get accredited. “Just pay us”
