Implementing page layout design

Hello All

I have some nice page designs. Now, to implement the design on the site the programmer has asked that I request a separate PNG file for each element on the page. For example, a separate PNG file for the background colour or pattern, and each individual button etc.

There are number of pages, each with a lot of different elements. It sounds like a lot of work. Sometime ago, I got a site made, gave the programmers the art work and they just “put it on”. How did they do this?

Is there some way that I can outsource the work of “splitting up” of all the elements and obtaining PNGs for each of them? Or, is there no real alternative other than to approach the original designer for the multitude of PNG files?

Thank you in advance for any help

Usually when creating the site, artwork is sliced up into the different elements (like background pattern and individual buttons). Sounds like the previous programmer did this work for you. It’s a relatively easy step if you have the original Photoshop files, but more work if you have something like a “flattened” jpg. I assume you did not create the designs.
