I am going to be traveling

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to announce my approaching period of inactivity. I am planning a trip home to Florida soon, and I’m not sure exactly when or where I will end up.

I know the large majority of you don’t care, but for those of you who end up wondering where I disappeared to - I thought this would be helpful.

I’m heading home for Florida on this Thursday, December 17th. (This is still subject to change, but it will be pretty close)

I will probably resurface in January or February of 2010, but I’m not sure where or exactly when. I’m certainly not going to return to where I’m at now, (Trenton, GA) but my future whereabouts will be ironed out during my travels.

So, I just wanted to give the community a heads up. I’ll be out of pocket for a good bit coming up.

I have no real idea just how much internet access I will have during my travels, but I imagine it will vary from destination-to-destination. Potential exists for me to not show my face until I resettle.

Which part of Florida? My partner’s 26yr old son is in Sarasota and he thinks it’s good - though not good enough to avoid Vegas thrice per year

Well, I’ll be hitting a number of places in Florida during my travels… just to name a few of the sure stops:

Jacksonville, Florida
Stuart, Florida
Hobe Sound, Florida
Pompano Beach, Florida
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Some possible stops:
Jupiter, Florida
West Palm Beach, Florida
Boca Raton, Florida

and many more possibilities…

I was born in Stuart, Florida. My younger years were spent in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area and my teenager years in Hobe Sound, Florida. I consider Hobe Sound my home.

Sarasota is one part of Florida I have little experience with.

As for how I like Florida - I HATE it. It’s great for vacationing - but living there blows. High crime, spanish-speaking, high tax, high cost of living, corrupt justice system… I could go on and on. I always say “come on vacation, leave on probation, return on violation” in regards to Florida. (Let’s hope that doesn’t end up applying to me!!)

I’ve haven’t been there yet though planning on doing so soon. I am told that Sarasota is where the mature people go so it is less full on (is it elsewhere?), and more relaxing without being dull. (who says maturity means dull, anyway?).

I couldn’t speak on the specifics of Sarasota, but I don’t trust any part of Florida.

Bon Voyage, bring us back something nice

Thanks. I’ll be lucky to bring myself back! :stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck Alex - hope the trip goes well

Thanks, Paul.

I’ll get ahold of you as soon as I’m back.

Ho ho ho  Have fun. As you know Alex, I am living in Florida. I live on the side of the Gulf though and you talk all about the crowded Atlantic east coast.

I live on an island and it is peaceful and oh so charming.

Sarasota is the town I go shopping in, a really nice place, slow pace. Lots of art and events.

We have no crime here…

You ever seen Simons furniture store? Thats my partner’s son’s store.

We have no crime here…

More attractive to me now and I laughed at the picture.

Sorry, I can not say that I have

This jail is even funnier decorated for Christmas

I know the West Coast of Florida is in better shape than the East Coast - but I’ve spent very little time on the West side. I’ve been to Naples, Tampa and Bradenton when I was young, but that’s about it for the West side of the state.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope you’ll find a place you feel comfortable settling down in the next few years.

Thanks kohoutek, but let’s hope that I find a place sooner than the next few years!

Hope to see you back soon Alex.

Thanks! No worries, you will.

UPDATE: It looks like I’m not going to end up leaving until December 22nd. December 21st is the soonest I can see me leaving at this point. Had some slight changes of plans. Just thought I’d let everyone know I’m still around for the time being.

Enjoy your travels Alex, keep tweeting your escapades and try not to get arrested to often

Watch you don’t pick up Bed Bugs. Arrrgh.

Thanks! I will try my best to do that.

You read my twitter?

Where do you get that? I haven’t been arrested since I was a juvenile.

Huh? I’m lost on this one, lol…
