I just wanted to announce my approaching period of inactivity. I am planning a trip home to Florida soon, and I’m not sure exactly when or where I will end up.
I know the large majority of you don’t care, but for those of you who end up wondering where I disappeared to - I thought this would be helpful.
I’m heading home for Florida on this Thursday, December 17th. (This is still subject to change, but it will be pretty close)
I will probably resurface in January or February of 2010, but I’m not sure where or exactly when. I’m certainly not going to return to where I’m at now, (Trenton, GA) but my future whereabouts will be ironed out during my travels.
So, I just wanted to give the community a heads up. I’ll be out of pocket for a good bit coming up.
I have no real idea just how much internet access I will have during my travels, but I imagine it will vary from destination-to-destination. Potential exists for me to not show my face until I resettle.
Well, I’ll be hitting a number of places in Florida during my travels… just to name a few of the sure stops:
Jacksonville, Florida
Stuart, Florida
Hobe Sound, Florida
Pompano Beach, Florida
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
Some possible stops:
Jupiter, Florida
West Palm Beach, Florida
Boca Raton, Florida
and many more possibilities…
I was born in Stuart, Florida. My younger years were spent in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area and my teenager years in Hobe Sound, Florida. I consider Hobe Sound my home.
Sarasota is one part of Florida I have little experience with.
As for how I like Florida - I HATE it. It’s great for vacationing - but living there blows. High crime, spanish-speaking, high tax, high cost of living, corrupt justice system… I could go on and on. I always say “come on vacation, leave on probation, return on violation” in regards to Florida. (Let’s hope that doesn’t end up applying to me!!)
I’ve haven’t been there yet though planning on doing so soon. I am told that Sarasota is where the mature people go so it is less full on (is it elsewhere?), and more relaxing without being dull. (who says maturity means dull, anyway?).
Ho ho ho Have fun. As you know Alex, I am living in Florida. I live on the side of the Gulf though and you talk all about the crowded Atlantic east coast.
I live on an island and it is peaceful and oh so charming.
Sarasota is the town I go shopping in, a really nice place, slow pace. Lots of art and events.
I know the West Coast of Florida is in better shape than the East Coast - but I’ve spent very little time on the West side. I’ve been to Naples, Tampa and Bradenton when I was young, but that’s about it for the West side of the state.
UPDATE: It looks like I’m not going to end up leaving until December 22nd. December 21st is the soonest I can see me leaving at this point. Had some slight changes of plans. Just thought I’d let everyone know I’m still around for the time being.
