How do I uninstall PEAR?

Greetings,

How do I remove PEAR? Do I simply delete the PEAR directories on the server?

Thanks,
Shane.

I guess you’ll want to remove it using

apt-get remove php-pear

as well.

raena,

I forgot to mention that I’m in a shared hosting environment, and don’t have shell access (just ftp). I installed it by uploading and running go-pear.php.

So, is removing it simply a matter of deleting the directories?

Thanks,
Shane.

Aha, gotcha! I’ve never installed PEAR in that fashion, sorry!

You should be able to remove the directories. You might find a .pearrc file squatting around someplace. That should go too.

If you have a custom php.ini file referring to PEAR I guess you should check this.

raena,

I don’t have a custom php.ini file. I just deleted the directories.

Thanks for your quick response.

Shane.

As you are on shared hosting account …you cannot do it …thats only possible if your hosting provider does.

But on shared hosting server I feel its difficult they will disable it.

I was only wanting to delete the version that I installed myself. It wasn’t installed by my hosting company.

Shane.
