How did they do this animation?

When you hover the mouse over the buttons/editions section there is a smooth animation on the page, it doesn’t appear that they used Flash for the design… I’ve never been shown how to do this and don’t even know where to look…

How do I do something similar to that? It looks like Flash but I don’t think it is.

Their events_home.js script sets up the hover event to run the functions prodPop() and prodUnPop() - which are defined in the events_library.js script.
