If the right decision intelligence pipeline model of IoT is adopted then it can help leaders to make smarter business decisions. Hence, IIOT is not a just a buzzword and if implemented the right way, it could save thousands of lives. What do you think?
How do you figure it could save thousands of lives? From what I’ve seen so far IoT seems only capable of allowing thousands of households to be hacked.
The S in IoT stands for security
I think ‘thousands of lives’ is a perfectly reasonable albiet seemingly random number plucked from thin air. In theory if IOT is used for things like monitoring health and assisting with limited mobility i can see how lives could be saved. Being able to remotely monitor elderly peoples house temperature remotely, for example, could alert people if it falls too low or too hot etc.
But yeah there will be a a fair few pointless things muddying the water but hopefully the useful things will filter through and security will be taken into account. Things like this toaster (assuming its not a joke) https://www.extremetech.com/electronics/242169-internet-things-officially-hit-peak-stupid-courtesy-smart-toaster-griffin-technology will be put in the garage next to the lazer disc player.
Unsure why 1984 has anything to do with it or am i missing something?
Because IoT is a very Orwellian thing, if you ask me.
