Convert PDF to Readable Flip Book

Hi, I am new here. I didn’t know if it is the optimum catagory for my question, but I believe you guys will help me. In brief, I am about to develop a site for vistors to Upload PDF files and convert them into readable flip book. Anyone have an accomplished project for this, or any codes for this.

I really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Two sites I came across:
http://www.axmag.com;
http://page-flip.com

Why, don’t you like your readers?

Seriously, those kind of applications are just plain awful. They have dire usability, dreadful accessibility, they load and run slowly on many devices, and fail completely on many others. They destroy the reader’s model of reading because they require new interaction techniques to be learned, and that is likely to turn a significant number of people away. They are not search engine friendly.

Ordinary PDFs, while not always ideal, are at least common and a well-understood model. Anyone who uses the internet will have come across PDFs and will know how they work and how to read them. Why destroy all that for some pretentious arty setup that doesn’t even work properly?

While a PDF

Hi Stevie

Glad for your reply!
That definitely makes a difference. I have seen the demos in ISSUU.com and AXMAG.com, they are awesome as online reader, and also easy-to-use for beginners. Here comes the question, why couldn’t I make this kind of online readers on my site. Maybe they’ll love it.

Bests

It depends - if you have a detailed knowledge of programming and the time to spend writing a web application, go for it! On the other hand, for the vast majority of people, that isn’t going to be an option, so then you’ll have to use an existing product, and most of them are likely to have a cost attached. Are you willing to pay it?

No free service of flipping book was found. I’m afraid I have to pay for it.

Thanks anyway

Wasn’t there a flip-book thing for specifically iPad?

Someone asked about that one a while back and I looked around and it seemed that the problems with the flip books were more whenever users couldn’t intuitively figure out what to do next… and this iPad? flip-book thing was, in general, fairly intuitive.

However it worked partially because iPads and other mobiles are aware of their screen dimensions and of their page dimensions. A desktop web browser does not know these things and so suffers from extra problems that the tablet PCs and mobiles don’t necessarily have.

I’m thinking a flip-book style thing is perhaps better off limited to devices where it’s more easily dealt with and kept off ordinary web sites.

Hi all,

A good flip book I can recommend is zynk reader, but it is unfortunately not free, but I heard that is cheap and can be customized to order if you do not like the current version.
Can be found typing on google zynk reader.
or Zynk Reader - Realistic online catalog reader - Flip Book, Flash pdf, Flash book

I like the pressmo tools - quite fast, easy to make good looking flip page books and catalogues with PDF files and the conversion is fast.

Yes. No good things are free, but they are worth are have a free trial. As you mentioned, you’d like to create a flip book to have a better show of yourself. That can be cool as an iPad on the personnal computer. So if you’re not find the satisfied one, the kvisoft page flip software must be at your need!

Hi karcoos,

I’ve noticed that you have already checked www.page-flip.com (it’s flippingbook.com now by the way). Have you given it a try? Flip books creating may be controversial, but I guess either pdf or digital publications will always have its pros and cons. In my opinion FlippingBook software is the leader so far. It’s not very cheap, but it makes books’ creating really easy and fast. As far as I know, it also has mobile devices’ support and you can create online versions of publications as well as online.
Anyway, here’s the link to trial version, if you haven’t come across it:

It’s been over a year since the original post was made. It’s very likely that a solution was either found, or the task abandoned

Not that more information about flip-books isn’t good, it’s just likely no longer going to help the original asker of the question.
