Just a quick correction - .ac is the domain extension for Ascension Island, as apposed to .ac for academic, although I beleive it is becoming common to use it for that purpose.

Does anyone know where I can go to download a list of all top-level TLDs? I’m not just looking for the basic TLDs, but also some country-specific ones such as “.com.cn” or “.edu.uk”, etc.

TLDv(dot)com (link in signature) lists most of the major subdomains, however you would have to go to each country page to collect them. Some countries have dozens of them.
Be aware that there are also many .xx.com type domains offered by some registrars, these are subdomains without any official status and could vanish at any time. There are no official second level extensions of .com domains.
