I’m curious about this, too.
Like anything it depends on just how crazy and custom you want to get, but I’ve seen companies charging $800 - $1200 on the high end and the more typical small design firm/freelancer charging $200 - $400 or so.
For most pages you can probably borrow existing elements from a clients website, but if they want something completely unique that could add a bit to the price.
Steve
We offer it as a service, but our sales are all-inclusive alongside a static site, so it is tough to say what percentage of that price is what the client sees as “social media”.
By far, the largest amount of investment on our side is training the client to use FB.
Can anyone give an example of a really well done Facebook page?
wow that costs a bomb for 800-1200! yup, i do agree that most FP pages are a streamlined version of their original website fitted in the FB style mould & settings.
im a rep from a malaysian agency and to charge our clients based on US rate say USD800 x 3 = 2400 in Malaysian ringgits will definitely wont work cos in malaysia they just dont pay such a price esp for small-medium biz.
however, thanks for the insights.
almost similar to yours, my agency offer FB pages as part of a social media package along Google Place, ping.fm, blog, biz directories, foursquare, etc
so happens i pop this question is because a client refuse to choose for the social media offering package, but instead wanted just a piece of the package that is this FB fan page.

So, what I learned is that my suspicion is probably true. Would you agree with this:
Making a ‘facebook page’ is very limited in technical scope and not much technical skill is required, only a good working knowledge of how Facebook works.
With regards to scope/cost, the primary concern is the level of design/content to be added. Therefore, a crude page using a few existing graphics could be thrown together for very little and a more sophisticated design with more content would be priced accordingly.
yup, kinda agree with that. from my understanding, to be able to make an FB page standout from the rest is the level of FBML scripting that you had and/or FB apps integration (usually proprietary FB apps). just like any traditional internet marketing strategy, most FB page are sprinkled with call to action texts/images on the landing page. This can be used to engage user to a campaign call, or diverting to a newsletter subs or to the official website or another landing page on the website itself.
A good understanding of fiddling around the settings is also plus and the ability to incorporate the apps that fits the purpose. Also, acquiring a vanity URL for easy referencing, and brand marketing.
FB Page are ‘Facebookized’ clone of existing official websites moulded in FB style. For the simplest FBML landing page, incorporating materials from the official website is good enough with lots of link back to their official landing pages in their websites. No wonder some cost a bomb just because of the high-end customization that some agency can offer. But some gone overboard by charging them ridiculously.
Kinda surprising that feedback from i get from other forums claims that FB pages can be as expensive as 12K, with added proprietary apps, heavily customised FBML landing pages with Ajax/flash forms + heavy PS-ing.
FB Page is becoming a trend for corporates & SME’s in malaysia recently and its gonna be a big social media thing this year. Many internet marketing agencies like myself are gearing up for this, therefore many has started revamping price plan, including FB Page building with apps + custom FBML-ed landing page in their social media offerings. Since we usually refer the market in US/europe for our own price benchmarking, that is the reason why i am popping this question.
thanks to those who have given feedbacks on this.
Foe small and mid size, it should be in between $200 to $300 for reasonable pages. It depends on the features you want and can vary accordingly.
