Challenging myself

I’m building a full community site on one of the least-flexible platforms out there: Google Sites. I don’t know how to code beyond editing small bits of HTML/CSS, so everything that makes this work are embeds - mainly Padlet and Chatango - and lots of creative hacks.
It’s simple, but also one of the most challenging and fun projects I’ve done. I’ve managed to stitch together something that kind of works without heavy coding.

Anyhow, please take a look here and let me know what you think!

Just remember I’m kind of a beginner that’s web designed for at least half a year in total, so it isn’t fabulous…

Ahah I don’t want it to close lol

As for the “team” part mentioned in the site I’m the only lonely soul on there

If you provide more detail about what you need to know then you will more likely get better responses. Your question is very general and I can understand that you are not sure what you want to ask but the more specific you are the more relevant will be the responses.

Whether you want to hear it or not, you need to give up on Google Sites. You need a database, correct? I am not sure but I assume that accessing a database in a Google Site is not easy. Another likely problem is authentication and authorization (security) but probably that can be done if the user is logged into a Google account; I am not sure.

Google Sites are static. If you must create a static site then I suggest Cloudflare Pages. You will eventually however realize that it is too much work overcoming the limitations of static sites for such applications.

If you want suggestions for what to use then tell us what you are familiar with and/or want to use. I assume you are using much JavaScript. What else are possibilities? It can be frustrating when people try to provide assistance and the response is, oh,. I don’t want to or can’t do that.

Hi, it’s cool that you’re excited about your project!

I would recommend something to you, work on loading the blog page because for some reason it takes longer to load than others, maybe because of the photos. Also, go through the site and study where you need to change the background, and it is very, very important when you make a chat, forbid dropping links there without moderation, because this can lead to big problems.
