Can I make text transparent, yet still have a 100% opacity stroke?

Basically make outlined text…

You can use the horizontal type mask tool - type what you want, and then fill with a stroke.

I’d just ctrl+click the text-layer’s image, then create a new layer and go to edit>stroke. Afterwards it’s just a matter of deleting the text layer and you’d have yourself an outline.

An easier, and less destructive way, would be to set FILL to 0%, and then add a stroke layer effect.
