Build your own database driven website second edition vs fourth edition

Hi,

I am new to learning PHP, at the moment I am just going through some tutorials however I find I am just learning syntaxes and functions and need something a bit more structured which actually takes you through the process of using php with real examples.

I was given the book Build your own database driven website using PHP and MYSQL, I haven’t started it yet but it looks like it might be more what I am looking for.

I have a question though. I have been given the second edition, I know the latest edition is number 4. So I am wondering what are the major differences between the two?

Should I just go ahead and start with the second edition or would it I be missing anything vital that has been added to the latest one?

Any help would be appreciated.

The latter ones cover some differences when it comes to setting up your PHP and MySQL environment, because as you know, software changes over time.
