Big white space at the bottom of some pages

Hi everyone,

What an amazing forum. I hope I am posting in the correct forum here - moderators, please feel free to move the to where it belongs if this forum is not the right place :). Thanks in advance.

I have a quick question please.

I have an OpenCart shopping system installed on one of my sub-domains. I have bought a template that I am using with it right now.

I have big white space appearing at the bottom of some pages of the site.

It appears that the white space appears on pages with short content in them.

For example, here:
http://www.store.kill-tiredness-now.com/whole-foods/f1/acai-category

But the space doesn’t appear here, for example:
http://www.store.kill-tiredness-now.com/whole-foods/f2/cacao-products-category

I am now working with the template’s developer to try to fix this issue, but no luck yet.

If anyone might come up with some suggestions, I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks very much in advance,
Irina

Hi solaris and welcome to Sitepoint.

I didn’t geta chance to check your CSS, but, conceptually, it seems what you are trying to achieve is a ‘sticky footer’. Otherwise, it is natural for white spec to ‘collect’ at the bottom of shorter pages.
You may want to take a look at our very own Paul OB’s sticky footer demo

The basic premise is that you set the HTML/BODY elements to 100% height. and the page wrapper to min-height:100% then add a shim element (or pseudo element) the same height of your footer; you then use negative margins to position the footer into the place holder space.

hope that helps

Hi Dan,
Thank you very much for your help.
The problem actually was with a drop-down which, when hidden, was displaying links in a vertical line, instead of horizontal.
So, for short pages, it was showing an empty space at the bottom.
We have not got it fixed.
Thanks very much once again - I really appreciated your prompt reply.
