Best source of Information on Layout Design using grids

Hi guys, Just looking at designing my site at the moment and looking at the various resources online around creating layouts using grids (is this the best way of doing it??)

Who out there can give me some good suggestions on the best places to go - seems like there is so much information/sites etc out there. Its all abit confusing and overwhelming

A lot of website you can as reference for creating gride, one of the best site is “tutorial9(dot)net”. In this site, you will get useful tutorial and article how to use the applications.

Grids seem to have run their course these days especially as the buzzword now is responsive design so google responsive design and you will find some better methods of approaching site layout.

However whatever method you use you will still need an understanding of the underlying fundamentals so if you are a beginner then take time to learn the basics of html and css first otherwise you will be swimming uphill all the way.

A lot of beginners use grids because they think it is the easy way out but soon find that they are stuck in a grid that they can’t get out of. In the end grids are just css and html that you should be able to build for yourself. There are good ideas and techniques within a lot of grid structures so study them but don’t be bound by them.

I finished writing a post about responsive design today that might help. At the bottom of the post there are a bunch of links to tutorials and handy tools that might be of use:http://t.co/JhxO62g3

I also found these resources helpful at explaining how fluid grids work:
