I have to prepare 2 versions of our logo, a normal size and a retina size (double the size of the normal). Which size is the correct size and the retina size/format?
I can’t know what you mean by “correct size” without more context.
Regarding format, SVG may be a good choice, since the issues size and resolution then become irrelevant, assuming the logo is one that lends itself to that format.
The correct size depends on the design. Once you have that, multiply by 2 for retina. For example, if you decide your logo is 100x50, retina is 200x100 (2*100 x 2*50).

SVG files will just be resized accordingly, so two logos are not needed as older browsers are not used anymore?
SVG has had support in current browsers for a while now. You wold not resize for retina, as the size is the same. Retina will just give it better definition.
Though even if you did use a raster image format, I probably would not use two versions, just one that is good enough for retina.
You are great. Thank you for the message!
