Wp7 doesn’t look promising, Nokia should go back to Java

I lost my interest. After all this time Nokia finally ended up working with Microsoft. Wp7 doesn’t look like it’s going to fulfill expectations and to tell the truth, even though my favourite cellphone brand is Nokia, I like the earliest Java system best. I just hope they could release a new one with Java. This way it would also be benefitial to software developers and entice a lot of enthusiasm. Well, not this time though…

You mean Symbian? Symbian OS is written in C++ not Java, though it has a Java SDK. It was a badass OS, for sure, but lacked some key tools that are necessary for a modern mobile OS (Touch interface, and an App store).

They made the smart move partnering with Microsoft… Blackberry is partnering with Google to support Android apps, which means we’re down to 3 major players (Windows, Android, iPhone). There’s no room for a 4th major player in the OS game, so it was either try to compete and take 2nd-string or make a deal with one of the established big-boys. Apple wasn’t an option, and Android is already saturated (including their big competitor Motorola), so Windows was the obvious choice.

You never looked at .NET, C#, or Silverlight have you? There are a lot of .NET Developers out there just as many as there are Java Developers if not more. .NET actually has a major boon as all the developer tools for it are top notch, and most are free. Professional grade tools for free now that is an awesome deal.

Well, it seems there’s still some Java supporters out there. You’re a blast from the past, huh…
