Where to put business cards?

You give your business cards only to:

-potential clients
-in trade shows to people likely to be in the same business with you
-you leave it behind when the receptionist asks you to wait for somebody in a company
-when you run across a nice person you give…
-of course if you meet a charming lady… and you want to project a better image of yourself

Well duh!

This is the real reason why everyone has business cards.

Thanks for you input and be aware that I failed to add that the art of giving out the business card. In this kind of situation is special or more or less an art…

One thing worth noting if you want to make a lasting impression…

Ask other people for their business cards more often than you look to give out your own!

Now this obviously won’t work with everyone, but if you’re dealing with business people, showing more concern and interest in them and their business will work much better for you than trying to tell them all about your business right off the bat.

If you think of it, ask for two business cards from them and tell them you’d like an extra to pass on to in case you meet someone that could benefit from their services. You’ll stand out as someone who really looks out for the needs of others, and they’ll remember you long after the forget about the guy who goes around trying to pass out business cards to everyone he meets.

-I don’t like the idea of asking for another business card to pass to others on behalf of a potential client.
-Real professionals give their business cards and the party receiving the card should automatically return with his-her own card.
-I have seen cases of people reluctant to give out their cards and I never bother to ask…

This is an excellent, excellent piece of advice! Very clever - should have thought of this myself. I’ll be sure to implement this in the future.
